Vitamin E- the answer to all your piercing troubles

All about the healing magic of Vitamin E.

Ok, so I’m taking a wild guess that you are reading this right now because you have a troublesome piercing, or maybe you just want to learn more for any future problems that quite often arise with your piercing. I mean after all,  you have a foreign object in your body, it is highly likely that even with the best aftercare, you can still encounter problems, particularly in the healing process.

yep, pretty much everyone’s reaction to problem piercings..

So what made me turn to this little vitamin of wonder you ask? Well about 3 weeks ago I got my daith pierced and the healing was going swimmingly. That was, until around 5 days ago when I started feeling pain in my piercing area. I quickly discovered that I had developed yes, you guessed it, a dreaded cartilage bump.

I began frantically trying every method the internet was suggesting from tea tree oil (yes, I know, too harsh for a healing piercing but I was desperate) to putting aspirin paste on the bump- all of which just aggravated it more and made the two bumps increase in size (YIKES!).

So on my final attempt of discovering a miracle concoction that would magically zap my bumps away I discovered Vitamin E. I purchased Vitamin E capsules from my local health store Holland & Barrett and I was advised to pop the liquid capsules and apply it to the bumps along with taking 4 of these capulets orally a day.

Now, I was very sceptical about this as everything else I tried only made it worse so I was just thinking this would do the same. Boy, was I wrong. By the next morning my top bump had practically disappeared by magic and the one at the bottom (which was the worse of the two) reduced dramatically in size and the irritated redness of the bump had disappeared and was now looking a healthy skin colour!

my reaction when I woke up the next morning to see the difference

So now, I’m going to show you the difference as Im sure you want to see for yourself the magic of this very special vitamin. If your a little squeamish then I suggest you stop reading and scroll down further to the end…

Ok, so this was before the vitamin e oil. If your wondering what is on my ear, it is antibiotic cream which for the record, made it so much worse! You can’t fully see the top bump but it was roughly the same size as the bottom one.

And this was the morning after I woke up after applying it for the first time. Amazing right.

So, if your not clued up on your vitamins like me, your probably wondering what is Vitamin E and what makes it work so well?

Well quite simply it works as an antioxidant to protect cell membranes from damage. This explains why it has such amazing results for scars etc! Vitamin E also helps with overall health and well being so it should definitely be a must everyday vitamin even after your piercing ailments have healed!

Where’s best to buy it?

There are so many options of where you can buy it. You can order it online from amazon etc. But I strongly recommend buying it from a health store, so you know its of good quality. Be sure to buy it in liquid tablet form as it’s so much cheaper and works the same as the liquid and then you also have the added benefit of being able to take them as tablets as well to get double the benefit.

Heres what I’m using..

I pierce the liquid capsules and squeeze out the liquid to apply topically and in addition take for of these four a day. This is by no means the cheapest, however the quality is excellent and you pay for what you get. Worth it!

There you have it, give it a try as you can see it has worked wonders for me.

I just want to finally add that everyones body is different so do not feel discouraged if this does not work for you. You may find another method which works better. Just be patient and you will know when you find what works for you and you MUST keep up with your sea salt soaks twice daily to keep it clean and prevent infection.

Thanks for reading and I hope you found this helpful.

1st Blog and winging it

Welcome to SophBehindTheKeyboard. Learn about me and the aim of my blog in this first post.

Hello and Welcome!

pexels-photo-917475.jpeg

Before I go any further I just have to put it out there that this is completely new territory for me.

I have never “blogged” in my life but have been inspired by a few close friends to start my own.

So feel free to judge my amateur ways!

Soooooo… about me and my blog

The reason why I have created this blog is to provide my readers with an insight to things that I feel will benefit them. For example, I am majorly in to piercings and tattoos so you will probably find countless blogs on things I have learnt which will help all you fellow piercees and lovers of ink out there (e.g. the do’s and dont’s and those magic potions that have healed those dreaded bumps).

I am an avid reader and film fanatic (particularly all things Disney and Harry Potter if you’re judging already at that then this probably isn’t the right blog for you 😉 ) so expect plenty of blogs and reviews on this also.

I also live with a long-term neurological condition (you will learn more about this in detail in a later blog). My aim is to speak openly about this in hope I can raise awareness about my condition as it is extremely rare and hopefully provide tips and information to those who may be in a similar situation.

You may also find the odd diet review thrown in too as I often like to try to experience different lifestyle changes to try to keep healthy so for those who like to try different diets this ones for you!

There will be plenty of other topics covered. The ones mentioned above are just to name a few. I am also open to doing requested topics by readers so feel free to let me know if there is something you wish for me to write about/review!

As mentioned at the beginning of this blog, this is completely new to me and my aim is to have my readers feel informed and inspired on every blog posted.

And…

that was easier than I thought it would be! I think I have covered everything I needed to in this first post. I look forward to start writing content for you guys (hopefully a minimum of one blog post a week).

Why I love hockey and you should too!

Just a blog that will make you want to fall in love with ice hockey.

So I’m not here to try to get you to start supporting an Ice Hockey team. Am I here to get you to open your eyes to something that your missing out on? Yes, I am. Guilty.

Sooooo, on that note let the educating begin.

              Welcome to the ice

tenor-4

So it’s only right that I begin with the most important point which is talking about the sport itself. Ice hockey is a high energy contact sport. No match will be the same as the previous. Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat for the majority of the match from fighting to penalties there is never a dull moment. Be prepared to be wowed by the sheer skill and determination of players as they put themselves on the line for each game. You’re in for a treat when you watch a good game of hockey especially if it’s with your arch rival team.

             Two worlds, one family

tenor-2

Ok, so that was partly an excuse to get a bit of Tarzan thrown in but the family bit is very much true. Never when I began attending ice hockey did I ever think I would grow so close to those around me. No matter what team you support everyone comes together regardless of background to support their team. It is super nice to see a sport that enables fans to not just interact with their team but also each other through hosting different events such as award nights. So to put it simple expect to make friends for life through this sport.

You get what you pay for

business-money-pink-coins.jpg

In hockey you get three twenty-minute periods with two seventeen minute period breaks. A hockey match can typically last up to 2 and a half hours if the game should go into overtime.

In each twenty-minute period, the game clock will stop when ever the puck is no longer in play e.g. if players are fighting, if there has been a penalty given to a player. Therefore you get three periods full of play, yay!

                Its one big party

tenor-3

So you’re in a rink. Your team wins or your team loses. Theres a bar. Need I say anymore? The bar in the rink is an excellent way to socialise with not only your hockey family and the away team fans but you often get to meet the players themselves in UK hockey (who may I add are some of the most interesting down to earth individuals you could wish to meet). The rink provides a safe place to be able to meet people and let your hair down a bit which is rare to come across in this day and age so take advantage of this! Have fun with your hockey hangover they really can be a killer, especially a playoff headache ;).

                     Travelling

tenor-5

Ok so obviously you don’t want to miss a game when your team are playing an away game- so why not tag along? It’s the perfect opportunity for you to go and visit a new city or go back to that place that you love alongside supporting your team. Now if I’m honest that sounds like a “win win” to me. Often your local teams will have organised transport to get you there and back so you really can just enjoy your time away from the office and have a fantastic time.

             Are you sold yet?

tenor-6

My points raised in this blog are what I regard as the main reasons why I have fallen in love with this sport. There is so much more I could have mentioned but I just wanted this to focus on the main points as I could honestly write endlessly about this.

So, if I have persuaded you to join the dark side (just kidding) then go ahead and take a look at your local team and get to your first match! You will not be disappointed and who knows maybe we will see each other at a rival match. LETS GO CARDIFF DEVILS!
